  At L.T.D. Woodworks, Tom Dumke hand

  selects the wood for each piece of

  furniture from stacks of rough-sawn

  lumber, always reading each board to

  determine how best to show the wood's

  rich color and natural figure.

  Tom uses a variety of well seasoned

  hardwoods, including cherry, walnut,

  alder, and mahogany, along with highly

  figured woods such as quarter sawn white

  oak, bird's eye maple, tiger maple, and

  more.  He chooses these woods for their

  time-tested reputation of strength,

  durability and beauty.

  Tom then prepares the wood for each

  project using a balance of machinery for

  efficiency and hand tools for precise age

  old traditional methods of joinery.  After

  hand finishing each piece, he signs and

  dates his work.
